padova is where the majority of "the taming of the shrew" is set. it is intriguing how much italy can be appealing to fans of shakespeare. it is also a charming and tranquil university town that is the home of giotto's schrovegni chapel. there are no images here of the chapel, in fact I recommend avoiding all images if possible and wait until you see it in the flesh (for your pre-reserved allotted 15 minutes) because it is very special. instead here is: Basilica di Sant'Antonio da Padova, a staggering fresco of a donkey receiving the eucharist!!! and an equestrian statue by donatello. ps giotto's donkeys are even better!
