the shrew of padova

padova is where the majority of "the taming of the shrew" is set. it is intriguing how much italy can be appealing to fans of shakespeare. it is also a charming and tranquil university town that is the home of giotto's schrovegni chapel. there are no images here of the chapel, in fact I recommend avoiding all images if possible and wait until you see it in the flesh (for your pre-reserved allotted 15 minutes) because it is very special. instead here is: Basilica di Sant'Antonio da Padova, a staggering fresco of a donkey receiving the eucharist!!! and an equestrian statue by donatello. ps giotto's donkeys are even better!
